Description

"To launch the Lecture Series Where Have all the Radicals Gone? co-presented by Eyelevel Gallery and SUNSCAD, Scott Rogers will present on the Arbour Lake Sghool. He will discuss the Sghool's relationship to the economy, politics and social life of Calgary, including his recent independent work. The Arbour Lake Sghool is a collaborative artist group based in a house in the suburbs of Calgary, Canada. The group consists of five long-term members (Andrew Frosst, John Frosst, Justin Patterson, Scott Rogers and Aaron Sereda) who have conceptualized and contributed to the vast majority of Sghool projects. Alongside these individuals many other participants and collaborators have contributed to projects at the Sghool most notably Kiarra Albina, Ben Jacques and Stacey Watson. Sghool projects have included a 24 hour water balloon recreation of World War One in the yard of the house, a two-storey tall volcano built of cardboard and a crop of barley which was grown and harvested during the summer of 2007. The Sghool have presented their work throughout Canada in solo and group exhibitions including exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Calgary, Toronto Free Gallery and the Art Gallery of Peel. Their work has been reviewed in numerous publications including the Globe and Mail, Onsite Magazine and a variety of academic papers and research studies" (-NSCAD website)
