Description
"Numb Bares II begins with a Beckett-like sequence which plays on the convention of using gray bars or colour bars as a test pattern at the head of a video program.Over the gray bars, we hear (in place of the usual 60-cycle test tone) Cameron's voice uttering a low, continuous hum. As he runs out of breath, his voice dissolves into a racking [sic] cough, followed by the sound of his retreating footsteps, over which the title 'UN-BARS' appears. From this rather slapstick beginning, we cut to a sequence in which an aggressive camera points at adhesive letters affixed to areas of a female model's body, spelling out the first line of a nursery rhyme. In the sequence titled Keeping Marlene out of the Picture this voyeuristic aggression is completely inverted, with in-camera edits acting to remove the model from the scene in the moment she arrives" (-VHS liner notes)
